Peter Frick
Peter is originally from Blaine, Minnesota. It was 20 degrees below zero on the day he was born. The cold weather apparently agreed with Peter, because he went on to study physics in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, graduating in 2007.
Peter met Christ during his freshman year of college. He says, God let me meet some really sincere people who happened to be Christians, and he was working through my changing circumstances to bring me to himself. At that point in my life, I didn't want a lot. I really only wanted one true, real thing that I could lean on and give myself to. God loved me enough to take away what was most precious to me and let me see that I didn't really have hope in my life. He has satisfied my desire for that one true thing with himself, and I'm so grateful that He took away what was lesser, transient, and corruptible and has given me what's pure and proves itself better each year.
Peter is now finishing his first year in the Chemical and Physical Biology Ph.D. program at Vanderbilt. His research is aimed at showing how cells behave differently in various cancer cell lines. The ultimate aim of the research is predicting tumor growth.
Peter also likes to stay active and play sports, as long as they have nothing to do with swimming. He says, "I'm so grateful to have found Immanuel. It has got to be the easiest church to go to with such warm people, a reverence for the sum of God's word, gospelcentric teaching, and encouragement for sinners like me."
